How’s your Monday?
-
Aussie elections created some pretty significant gaps on the open. Were you in on any trades over the weekend? Did you take any continuations today?
-
Personally I’ve been sitting on the sidelines, waiting for price to form something of substance & convincing before considering anything. -
-
Just because the markets moved it isn’t an excuse to just jump in to anything. Did you take a loss today due to FOMO? -
-
It’s important to not ‘look for a trade’ but rather ask yourself where and how you would take a trade. You shouldn’t just have a written Trading Plan of your strategy, you should plan each trade 🧠

So the good guys over at @lumecube reached out to me to see if I would try out their product to improve my workspace pictures (first time ever receiving such a ‘gift’, so that’s pretty cool). -
-
I’m not that much of a photographer, but I have had a few comments in the past saying my lighting isn’t great so hopefully I can play around an improve with this gem . -
-
First impressions are good, I’ve included a with and without. It’s pretty damn bright!
-
-
I’ll write up an honest review on my blog over the coming days if you would be interested in that. -

Law of Attraction is bullshit.
The Law of ACTION is what's more powerful.

I believe the theory of 'attraction' sets you in the right state of mind, but if you're spending more time decorating your vision board with fancy pictures than actually working towards making it happen..who are you kidding? Do you expect these 'things' to just fall into your lap because you gave time to think about it?

The easy bit is the vision board. The hard bit is turning it into reality.

You've got to put in actual actionable, measurable steps to get somewhere.

What's your plan for the next 90 Days? 6 Months time? A year? Even 5 years from now? Do you know what you need to do to get there?

It's the same with affirmations. They only work in combination of effort.
Writing I am a consistent & profitable trader everyday isn't going to magically transform you into this person. It's a process to empower yourself with the mindset to do the work that is required to become that person.
When you're a little bit tired from work and that little voice says 'tomorrow' - you remind yourself of your affirmation *who you want to be* and you simply put in the work.

Don't speak it into reality, work it into reality.

Let’s do something different - share your longer term goals below
-
Forget about the cliche ‘freedom’, that’s a given - what do you *really* want to do or achieve in the next 5-10 years? -
-
A goal of mine is to purchase an additional property with the intention of designing & renovating it myself. A passion that’s grown from doing it to my own home. I think there is something incredibly rewarding in both the psychical work, and also providing a beautiful home for someone to move straight in to. -
I would love for trading to eventually fund and enable this and continually putting a unique perspective onto each property flipped. -
-
In the shorter term, I’ll be renovating one of my sheds into a cocktail bar - boarding, flooring, tiling, lighting & bar units. - would you be interested in seeing the development as this happens?

Slippage comes with the territory of trading and just another cost of doing business. -
-
I took a 2.7% ‘loss’ on NZDCAD Long holding overnight - even with reduced risk from taking into consideration the High Impact News and how volatile NZD has reacted to news lately. -
-
A stop is never guaranteed and completely ‘risk free’, so understand and accept the risk of every trade. Regardless of where you have trailed your stop. -
-
There was a time I would have probably over analysed and evaluated what I could have done differently, but hindsight is 20:20 - there’s no point threating over minor issues and ‘losing twice’ when there is an abundance of opportunities to capitalise on with a clear, focused mind.

April resulted in a negative month for myself. -
-
A few contributing factors; market conditions and multiple external entities - but above all taking accountability for my own actions and that was allowing too much discretion to creep in. -
-
After a small losing streak, I found myself becoming inpatient and ignoring certain criteria that yielded me consistency to begin with.
-
-
The old cliche of ‘lessons in the losses’ is oh so true, however not every trade has a lesson other than ‘don’t be a cunt’. The lessons are within yourself. -
-
As a resolution I focused my Q1 backtesting on only High Probability Setups and really honing in on their nature to compose a solid Trading Plan for the rest of 2019 and muting multiple accounts IG stories to avoid outside ‘FOMO’ influence (sorry ). -
-
The last 2 weeks have been very quiet in terms of trades for me, taking only one position on NZDCAD and closing 2.8%. -
-
A positive from a negative - one month will never define a years performance.

Checking the charts at work -
Find yourself tempted or needing to check the charts every minute? If you take or manage a trade on the hourly - just ask yourself ‘If I look at the chart will I carry out an action before the candle closes?’ -
Nothing is confirmed until a candle is closed, so why stress and watch every tick. You’ll avoid emotional and reactive trading.

No trades for me today so completed my ASR early and been organising Q1 backtesting data. -
-
How are you spending the Easter break? -
-
I’m Looking forward to actually enjoying the 4 day weekend, but balancing it with a few hours of work each morning. Feels like months since I’ve done something other than work on a weekend. There’s no need to ‘hustle’ more because there’s a break and especially as it’s sunny for once, it’s going to be enjoyed. -
-
However, if you’re early on in your journey it’s important to take this opportunity to spend time reflecting, backtesting, absorbing content and digging deep into your ASR. If you’ve been slacking because you ‘don’t have time’, this is your time.

The reality of trading.
-
I entered GBPAUD long last night around 7:30. By the time ‘bed time’ came around the position was still hovering at Break Even - unable to manage.
-
Decisions were either go to bed or stay up to manage the trade. This is where trusting your analysis and strategy is important. I’m not going to lose sleep over 1%, if it could be hours before any action.
-
Naturally as a result that trades on my mind. I wake up bright eyed at 1:00am and instantly check the trade. Again I shoot up at 4:00am after repeatedly dreaming of that trade and see the trade has impulsed 2% into profit. I move to break even and go back to sleep. The next 2 hours are dreams of the trade. -
A broken sleep and I wake up at 6:00 to get 2 hours of backtesting and chart work in before the day starts.
-
I’m now tired. Does anyone else experience this?

Still chugging my way through backtesting Q1, realising how much opportunity there really was at the start of the year. By sticking to only very High Probability trades alone, the rewards are insane. -

A few phrases that have really stood out and resonated with me this week have had me thinking....
-
“Needing nothing attracts everything” -
“Happiness is the highest level of success” -
“Do what feels good, the rest will follow”

Lastly, I saw @antmiddleton live last night and he discussed “A negative situation cannot be resolved from a negative mindset”. -
-
It’s true, when you put zero expectations on the market and trading it always bring more results, and the perspective you look at it all is so important. -
-
‘Needing’ applies pressure which leads to negativity.
-
‘Lessons in the losses’ is a phrase coined all too often, but the lesson doesn’t just lie in the trade. A loss can occur as a bi-product of a negative environment. -
- (GBPAUD having my full attention at the moment)

Building a case for a short-term sell on USDCAD. Utilising Pattern Separation and determining where price currently sits within structure. -
Overall, price looks to be sitting within the centre region of both the HTF Bear Flag and potential descending flag within that structure, indicating a possible short term move to the downside before making its way back up completing the HTF Flag structure for the Third Touch for the bigger sell.

Slowly working my way through backtesting Q1 data across all pairs I trade, but just caught up with the @falcontradingguidance Midweek Market Review. -
-
I’ve been trialling out writing notes on the iPad, using a ‘paper feel’ screen with a stylus pen to actually digitally save notes. Has anyone tried something similar?
-
-
Not the best start to Q2 for me, a couple of easily avoidable losses this week but after last week’s news of the current freelance work coming to an end the emotional pressure carried on through to this week and I found myself rushing things and not applying proper stop placement. -
-
However, silver lining and good news is that the client has decided to continue relieving pressure and giving me the chance to take a step back. Goes to show how Trading really is a mental game. Although I was excited at the opportunity to go ‘solo’ for a while, it’s giving me a chance to continue to properly scale my account with the aim of taking the leap after I remortgage next year. That’s the longer term goal ️
